Backyard Wedding in Greenpoint, Brooklyn

Melissa + Jessica

Melissa and Jessica won my LGBTQ wedding photography contest so it was a huge honor for me to document their wedding just after New York state legalized gay marriage. They got engaged back when it was almost legal two years ago and have been waiting all this time to finally tie the knot, both symbolically and legally. The entire day was full of emotion and disbelief when something people have been told for years would never happen finally happened. I’m not going to lie, I shed tears of my own as their friends and family toasted to the couple’s happiness and shared bits and pieces about the long road it has been. So without further ado, let me present to you my first ever LGBTQ wedding, which took place backyard-style on one of Greenpoint’s lovely tree-lined avenues.
